2025 Great American Conference Coach of the Year Allison Frizzell-Kizer became Ouachita's first former volleyball player to take the reins of the program as head coach when she returned in 2018. Since then, she has turned the program into one of the best in the Great American Conference with five winning seasons and five top five finishes in the league, highlighted by the 2024 GAC tournament championship team and the 2025 GAC regular season championship squad. The 2024 team made the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.
The 2025 Tigers finished 26-5 overall, marking the second-most wins in a season in program history and the most in the NCAA era (1996-present). The .839 winning percentage also marked the program's highest in the NCAA era. Along the way in 2025, the Tigers were a perfect 13-0 at home and went 15-1 in GAC matches to win the league's regular season championship for the second time in program history. It was the second straight 20-win season for the Tigers and 10th overall in program history. In addition to Frizzell-Kizer winning the league's coach of the year award, the 2025 squad featured GAC Setter of the Year Courtney Hanson and five total All-GAC selections.
The 2024 Tigers finished 22-10 overall, which was the ninth 20+ win season in program history and what was then the third in the NCAA era. Frizzell-Kizer helped Ouachita win its first ever GAC tournament crown in 2024, which gifted the team its first ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. Also during the 2024 campaign, she eclipsed 100 career wins as Ouachita's head coach, just the third coach in program history to reach the milestone.
Throughout her coaching tenure at Ouachita, Frizzell-Kizer has mentored three GAC setters of the year, one GAC tournament MVP, one GAC freshman of the year, six All-GAC first team selections, five All-GAC second team honorees, 12 All-GAC honorable mentions, and four GAC Elite Scholar Athletes.
Frizzell-Kizer came to Ouachita after four years as the head volleyball and women’s soccer coach at nearby Lakeside High School in Hot Springs. While at Lakeside, she accumulated a 101-29-2 record, including a 33-5-1 mark in her final season. Lakeside won the conference every year under Frizzell-Kizer’s watch, and the team went undefeated in district play in 2016 and 2017. During those undefeated campaigns, her teams led the conference in total kills, assists, digs and hitting percentage. She was selected as the 5A South Coach of the Year four years in a row, and was selected to coach at the Arkansas Activities Association All-Star Game in 2015.
As a student-athlete at Ouachita from 2009-12, Frizzell-Kizer was a four-year team captain and an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. Her highly decorated playing career started out with the 2009 Gulf South Conference West Division Freshman of the Year award and Ouachita Volleyball's Defensive Player of the Year. In 2010 as a sophomore, she earned All-GSC West Second Team honors as well as a spot on the GSC West All-Academic Team. She repeated as the team's defensive MVP that season. In 2011 as a junior, Ouachita's first year as a member of the Great American Conference, she was selected as Ouachita's Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year, was a finalist for the GAC Female Athlete of the Year award, and earned All-GAC First Team honors. Her final season as a student-athlete yielded All-GAC Second Team honors, as well as repeat honors as Ouachita's Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and finalist for the GAC's top academic honor.
Frizzell-Kizer ranks second at Ouachita in career digs with 2,226 and fourth in single-season digs with 640 in 2011.
In the summer of 2023, Frizzell-Kizer was selected to coach in Italy for the American International Sports Tour.
