RUSSELLVILLE, AR- The Lady Tigers (12-11, 3-6 GAC) traveled to Russellville on Tuesday night, looking to avenge a loss earlier in the season to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (22-3, 9-0 GAC). The Lady Tigers were coming off a thrilling five set victory over University of Arkansas-Monticello and were looking to continue building momentum, but were stopped in their tracks by a very good Arkansas Tech team and beaten in three sets (3-0).
Arkansas Tech held control of the game from the get-go, winning the first set by a score of 25-17 and then following that set victory with another 25-17 victory over the Lady Tigers. Ouachita was unable to recover from the two set deficit, falling in the third set by a score of 25-12 and dropped to 3-6 in Great American Conference play at the closing of the match.
The Lady Tigers top performers were led by junior
Allison Frizzell, who collected 20 digs in the match, and senior
Lexie Hegi, who collected 20 assists. Also notable was junior
Megan Askew, who was credited with a team-high eight kills in the match.
The Golden Suns were led by Laura Farney, who collected 20 digs for Tech, while receiving support from setter Amber Cerillos, who finished the match with 38 assists. Sara Motsinger led Arkansas Tech in kills, with 11 in the match.
The Lady Tigers look to rebound from the loss on Thursday night, when they host Harding University at home for a conference match-up. That game will begin at 7 p.m.
