Volleyball Falls to Southeastern Oklahoma, 4-7 in GAC Play

DURANT, OK- The Ouachita Lady Tigers (13-12, 4-7 GAC)  volleyball team traveled to Durant, Oklahoma on Saturday for a re-match with Southeastern Oklahoma State (13-15, 9-3 GAC). In their first meeting, the Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Savage Storm in three sets. During their match in Durant, the Lady Tigers came away with the third set, but were unable to take down Southeastern, falling in four sets, 3-1.

Ouachita junior Allison Frizzell finished with 24 digs in the match, while also collecting four kills. Senior Lexie Hegi finished with 30 assists, continuing to collect more than 90 percent of the Lady Tigers total assists. Senior Libby Harrington led the Lady Tigers in kills, collecting 11, while junior Megan Askew collected 10 kills of her own. Hegi also finished with four service aces.

Southeastern Oklahoma State was led by Lunden Azuara, one of the three selections for Great American Conference Player of the Week in the previous week. Azuara recorded gaudy numbers, including 23 kills and 35 digs, while also finishing with three block assists. Also notable for SEOSU was Tiara Iwegbu, who gathered 14 kills in the match.

The Lady Tigers return to action on Tuesday, when they host Henderson State for their second game of the Battle of the Ravine series this season. In their first meeting, Ouachita traveled across the street and handed HSU a loss. That contest will begin at 6 p.m.
