ARKADELPHIA, AR- The Ouachita Lady Tigers soccer team (7-9, 3-3 GAC) hosted the rival Harding Bisons (4-12-1, 0-6 GAC) on Friday, marking their last regular season game of the season and a chance to iron out any wrinkles going into the Great American Conference tournament next weekend. The Tigers took full advantage of the opportunity given to them, downing the Bisons by a score of 3-0 and finishing the regular season on a two game winning streak.
The Lady Tigers' goals were scored by
Taylor Gay,
Allison Drobena and
Miranda Lytle. Another important factor in the game was the number of shots taken by Ouachita. The Lady Tigers attempted 23 shots, while only allowing Harding to take six. Ouachita senior goalkeeper
Whitley Hoppe was spectacular, collecting five saves on Harding's six shots, keeping them off of the scoreboard and collecting another shutout.
Mary Whisenhunt,
Brittany Davidson and
Sarah McKimmey were all credited with assists in the match.
Harding was led by Adriana Lucar and Chelsea Brandon, both of which were able to take two shots during the match.
The Lady Tigers will begin preparation for the Great American Conference tournament this week. The tournament will begin on Friday and will be hosted by the regular season champion, East Central University, in Ada, Oklahoma.
