ARKADELPHIA, Ark - The Tigersharks knew it was going to be a close meet that would come down to the wire. Even with a strong showing the Tigersharks came up short against rival Henderson on Friday with a final score of 129-102.
The Tigersharks started the meet out dominating the 200 Medley Relay, which consisted of
Marcus Schlesinger on Back,
Matthew Pope on Breast,
Carl Thomas on Fly and
Kristian Krc as the Freestyle anchor. Finishing first with a time of 1:34.68 they dominated the Red Wave.
Junior
Marcus Schlesinger had a good night thrashing the Red Wave in the 50 and 100 Free with times of 20.47 (NCAA B Cut) and 45.79 (B Cut) respectively. Seniors
Matthew Pope and
Kristian Krc also had good swims on the night. Pope finished first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 58.62. Krc pulled out a very close win in the 200 Individual Medley winning by .13 seconds with a time of 1:58.23.
Other good performances include Sophomore
Jason Pullano taking 2
nd in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:01.93 as well as several good first time showings by Freshmen
Emile Maritz and
Christopher Price. Maritz took 2
nd in both the 200 Free and 100 Back with times of 1:48.85 and 54.50 respectively. Price competed in the 1000 and 500 Freestyles finishing 3
rd in 1000 with a time of 10:36.17 and 2
nd in the 500 in 5:02.82.
While it didn't end in a victory it was still a good first meet for the Tigersharks who were not deterred and plan on building upon the loss. The Tigersharks will be in action next when they take on the Cardinals of University of Incarnate Word at home on October 21.
