ARKADELPHIA, Ark - The lady Tigersharks started out the season well with a win over archrival Henderson State, Friday evening at Henderson. The ladies finished the night with 124 points to HSU's 115 points to pull out the close win.
The points started rolling in early with Senior
Kelli Caldwell taking the 3 meter diving title while taking second in the 1 meter diving competition. Sophomore
Jennifer Steele also brought the hammer in the 1000 and 500 Freestyles, dominating the field with times of 10:39.99 and 5:14.09 respectively. Sophomore
Haley Fox also had a very strong night. Fox took it to the wire in the 200 Free by hanging on to win it by a margin of .13 seconds. Fox also finished 2
nd in the 500 free after chasing down a Red Wave swimmer and finishing ahead by a margin of .05 seconds this time. Her times were 1:58.24 and 5:20.73 respectively.
Sophomore
Rebecca Zandstra also had a good showing with a very close win in the 50 Freestyle in a time of 24.99, only .06 seconds faster than 2
nd. Junior
Svitlana Smirnova also tamed the Red Wave crowd with yet another close win in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:09.36.
To round out the night Senior
Ksenia Gromova did what she does best, Win. Gromova cruised to victories in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke with times of 58.46 and 59.48 respectively.
The lady Tigersharks will host the Lady Cardinals of University of Incarnate Word in two weeks on October 21 at Waggoner Pool and hope to extend their win streak.
