Box Score ARKADELPHIA, AR- The Champion Baptist Tigers came to town on Monday night, looking to pull an upset against the Ouachita Tigers (4-1), who were coming off of their first loss against Delta State on Saturday. Ouachita came out in dominating style early, practically putting the game away by halftime and walking away with a 94-73 victory, moving them to 4-1 so far in the 2011 season.
The Tigers were led by junior
Austin Mitchell, who recorded a team high 19 points while also adding three rebounds and two assists. Freshman
Colt Fason wrapped up an impressive performance, finishing with 16 points and four rebounds in just 15 minutes on the floor. Newly acquired junior transfer
Michael Morris continued his pleasing of the crowd on Monday with 10 points and 10 rebounds, including an alley-oop dunk off of the backboard off of an assist from junior
Nigel Ramsey. Sophomore
David Day finished with eight points in the contest, adding a game high four blocks.
Champion Baptist was led by Brandon Likins, who finished with a game high 26 points. Likins also added 10 rebounds but turned the ball over 10 times during the game. Champion's Mo Capaci finished with 22 points while Jesse Byrd finished with 21 of his own.
Ouachita finished the game shooting an impressive 51.3 percent from the floor while holding Champion to 42.4 percent from the floor. Ouachita also won the turnover battle by a large margin, forcing Champion to turn the ball over 22 times while only turning it over 11 times throughout the game. The Tigers collected 46 rebounds in the game, while Champion was unable to overcome their lack of size, only reigning in 30 boards in the contest.
The Tigers return to the floor on Thursday night, when they put their 4-0 home record on the line against former conference foe North Alabama. Tip-off for that game will be at 7 p.m.
