Lady Tigers Complete Upset of #23 Delta State

The Ouachita Lady Tigers (5-2) hosted their first home game of the season on Saturday, when the #23 Delta State Lady Statesmen (3-3) came to town. The Lady Tigers were coming off of a 2-0 performance at the HSU Classic and were looking to stretch their win streak to four with an upset victory over Delta. The Lady Tigers brought their A-game, downing the Lady Statesmen by a score of 65-60 and moving to 5-2 on the season.
Ouachita was led by seniors A'Laeshia Adams and Beulah Osueke, both of which finished with 15 points in the contest. Adams added a team high five assists while also adding seven rebounds, a steal and a block while Osueke recorded five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Senior Tamara Robinson had a solid performance as well, collecting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while also adding an assist and a block. Senior Sarah Pugh also had a solid game, finishing with eight points, including a four of four performance from the floor while adding three rebounds and two blocks.
Delta State was led by Veronica Walker. Walker recorded 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block in the game while Aubree Ray added 13 points of her own to the Lady Statesman's totals. Brittany Roberts collected a game high six assists while Randi Ball collected a team high nine rebounds for Delta.
The Lady Tigers forced Delta to turn the ball over 13 times while turning it over 10 times themselves. Ouachita shot 40 percent from the floor in the contest while Delta State shot 36.1 percent from the floor. The Lady Tigers had a spectacular game from the free throw line, making 16 of their 20 attempts from the charity stripe for 80 percent.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Saturday, December 17, when they host Williams Baptist at 2 p.m. That will be their last home game until January 2nd, when they host Christian Brothers for Goza Kids
Day at noon.
