Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- In a game that was full of back and forths, the Ouachita Tigers (9-4, 2-1 GAC) final run of the game was not enough to get them past a very scrappy and athletic Muleriders squad from Southern Arkansas University (9-4, 2-1 GAC). The Tigers were plagued by missed free throws, which really became the difference in the game, as they missed 13 during the game. The Muleriders prevailed in the game, despite late game shooting woes, winning by a final score of 71-69.
Junior
Nigel Ramsey led the Tigers in scoring, matching his career high with 24 points, also adding six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Junior
Austin Mitchell added 16 for the Tigers, fouling out of the game about mid-way through the second half and taking away a scoring threat for Ouachita. Senior
Emmanuel Engulu finished with 12 points for Ouachita, also adding eight rebounds. Junior
Michael Morris collected a team high nine rebounds for the Tigers, also five points and two assists.
The Muleriders were led by Shumeecio Lark, who recorded a team high 20 points while also adding six rebounds and two blocks. Juvon Demerson added nine points and three rebounds while Casey Cheshier added eight points and five rebounds.
The Tigers forced the Muleriders to turn the ball over 27 times while only turning it over 13 times themselves. The Muleriders reigned in 32 rebounds, to the Tigers 28. As previously mentioned, the difference in the game was free throws, as the Muleriders converted on 27 of their 34 attempts while the Tigers only converted on 17 of their 30 attempts from the stripe.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Durant, Oklahoma for a match-up with the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.
