Box Score

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- During an unusual Monday night game in Great American Conference play, the Ouachita Tigers (11-5, 4-2 GAC) were defeated for just the second time in conference play by cross-town rival Henderson State (10-6, 5-1 GAC). The Tigers were unable to overcome their shooting woes late in the game, proving to be the difference in a game that the Reddies took by a final score of 80-70.

Ouachita was led by junior Austin Mitchell, who posted 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. Junior Michael Morris had a solid game as well, recording 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, three blocks and three steals. Sophomore Nick Ross scored 12 for the Tigers while junior Nigel Ramsey posted 11 points. The Tigers shot 46 percent from the floor but only shot 37 percent in the second half, including a 5 of 11 performance from behind the three point line.

Henderson State was led by Denzel Lyles who finished with 23 points. Lyles was injured early in the game with a head injury but came back and shot the lights out, including a 6 of 10 performance from the three point line. Andrew Ensley posted 18 points for the Reddies before fouling out late in the second half, while Jonathan Fitzgerald and Josh French both finished with eight points. Ensley collected a team high eight rebounds while three players finished with three assists. Henderson shot 50 percent for the game, including a solid 56 percent from the floor in the second half.

The rebounding margin finished dead even, both teams grabbing 36 boards in the match-up. The game saw a number of fouls called, 46 to be exact, including a double technical situation in which both teams had a player receive a technical.

Ouachita returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Russellville, Arkansas for a meeting with Arkansas Tech. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
