Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- In the first of two installments of the volleyball Battle of the Ravine, the Ouachita Lady Tigers (6-14, 3-6 GAC) proved to be the victors, despite playing in a hostile environment across the street. Henderson State (5-18, 1-6 GAC) played the Lady Tigers close, but a 3-0 sweep was the final outcome of the contest.
Freshman
Abby Pickett was lights out for Ouachita, recording 12 kills and a ridiculous attack percentage of .579. Although
Savannah White primarily handled setting duties, finishing with 18 assists, she also finished with an attack percentage of .500, claiming a kill on one of her two attacks. As a team, the Lady Tigers were just solid on the attack, recording a total of 41 kills in the contest.
Sara Mitchell led the team in assists with 19, while
Allison Frizzell finished with 12 digs and
Megan Askew with 11. Ouachita finished the game with a total of 15 blocks, with Askew and
Kelley Ballard both recording five.
Ty Lindberg led the Lady Reddies attack, recording nine kills during the game while also adding a game-high 14 digs. None of the Henderson State players registered impressive attack percentages though, as the team finished with a percentage of .018.
The two teams will match-up one more time this year, although next time it will be a home match for the Lady Tigers. That game will take place on November 8.
Ouachita will look to take their momentum from Tuesday's victory into Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, when they take on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State. That game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
