CLEVELAND, Miss.- Road game or not, the Ouachita Tigers (7-6) forced the hands of the Delta State Statesmen (5-5-1) on Saturday, scoring a tying goal in the second half and forcing overtime. The Tigers capitalized on the chance to win the game, when
Rizvan Ceka scored just six minutes into the overtime period, sealing a 2-1 victory.
Ouachita fell behind in the first half, when Delta State's Amine Rahmani scored at the 6:56 mark, recovering a ball off of a header clearance by a Ouachita player and shooting it past the Tigers'
David Henley for the score.
Ouachita went into halftime trailing, but Ceka wasn't going to let his Tigers go down without a fight. Ceka scored his first goal of the afternoon at the 73:24 mark of the game, receiving a cross from
Taylor Christian and slipping it past Delta State's goalkeeper.
Ceka's goal in the second half forced overtime, where he again capitalized when he needed to. Ceka received another pass from Christian, this time setting up a one on one opportunity that Ceka ended up scoring on.
Ouachita attempted nine shots throughout the game, three of which were on goal. Ceka finished with two goals and Christian finished the game with two assists. Henley played all 96 minutes of the game in net for the Tigers, recording two saves.
Ouachita will return home on Friday, when they host West Texas A&M. That game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Arkadelphia.
