Men's Basketball Coasts To Victory Against Champion Baptist

Box Score
ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- There was no doubt who the better team was in Monday evening's contest between the Ouachita Tigers (2-0) and the visiting Tigers of Champion Baptist (1-5). Ouachita put up a ridiculous 108 points in a 108-43 rout of the opposing Tigers, including a 57 point first half performance.

Champion Baptist was oversized and overmatched in the game, with Ouachita dominating the glass and forcing a number of turnovers. Ouachita picked up 35 boards in the game, compared to Champion's 22, while forcing 23 turnovers and only turning the ball over 10 times.

Notable players for Ouachita included pretty much the entire roster. Michael Morris and Kyle Francis both finished with double-doubles in the game, while everybody who played in the game recorded at least one basket. Morris posted 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Francis finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Morris didn't lead the team in scoring though, as Austin Mitchell took that honor with his 19 points and two rebounds in 17 minutes of play. Colt Fason added 15 points to the Tigers totals, while freshman Jamarlin Jackson put up 14 points in just 10 minutes on the floor.

Champion was led by Brandon Likins, who finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds and served as a catalyst for CBC's offense and defense. He scored more than half of his team's total points, while Mo Capaci added seven points. It is worth noting that almost a quarter of the team's points (10) came from free throws.

Ouachita held Champion to just 24.6 percent shooting from the floor. They had a stellar night though, running Champion out of the building with a 52.4 percent shooting performance, including a 38.5 percent mark from behind the arc.

Ouachita will have a little over a week to prepare for their next opponent, but will travel to Commerce, Texas for a battle against the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Tuesday, November 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
