Tiger Basketball Suffers First Loss of 2012-13 to Texas A&M-Commerce

Box Score
COMMERCE, Tex.- The Ouachita men's basketball team took to the road on Tuesday night, trying to stretch their win streak to three to open the season. Unfortunately for the team, the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce (4-2) had other plans. The Tigers struggled to make shots all game long and the Lions took a 69-56 victory.

A tough shooting performance in the first half put the Tigers behind early in the game, as they only converted on 27.6 percent of their attempts from the floor in the first 20 minutes of play. The Tigers also had trouble on the boards in the first half, as Commerce grabbed 31 rebounds compared to Ouachita's 15.

The second half saw a lot of the same, with the Tigers continuing to struggle. The Tigers made a couple of runs, but were unable to cut the lead to single digits.

Ouachita was led by Julian LaDay, who carried the offensive load with 21 points. Other notable scorers include Nigel Ramsey with 11 and Austin Mitchell and Micah Delph, who both finished with eight points.

Michael Morris struggled on the offensive end, but picked up eight rebounds and five blocks in the game.

Ouachita will try to rebound from the loss on Saturday, when they host Midwestern State University at 6 p.m.
