Tiger Basketball Rolls Against East Central in 83-58 Victory

Box Score

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The conference opener for the Ouachita Tiger basketball team (4-1, 1-0 GAC) was short of competitive, as the Tigers ran the visiting East Central Tigers (2-4, 0-1 GAC) out of the gym in an 83-58 rout. The Tigers dominated every aspect of the game from the start, ruining any hopes of a victory for the visiting Tigers.

Ouachita held a 49-23 lead at the half and went into the locker room shooting 57.6 percent from the floor and 70 percent from behind the arc. At the break, ECU was only shooting 32.1 percent from the floor, and had already committed nine turnovers.

The second half was a much more even period, with East Central actually scoring 35, compared to Ouachita's 34. However, they still fell way short of Ouachita's 83 points in the end.

Ouachita was led by four players in double-digits. Nigel Ramsey paved the way with 16 points, while Dave Day posted a 13 point performance. Also recording double-digit scoring totals were Colt Fason, with 12, and Julian LaDay, who finished with 11.

Only one player who saw playing time for Ouachita didn't score. Ramsey, along with leading the team in scoring, also notched a game-high six assists. LaDay and Micah Delph both added a few dimes as well, as they both recorded five assists.

Colby Carr led the visiting Tigers in scoring, picking up 13 points in the game. Gregory Ardister added 10 of his own. Henry Pwono led East Central in rebounding, grabbing eight boards, with Carr recording a team-high three assists.

Ouachita shot a ridiculous 52.4 percent from the floor, including a 44.4 percent mark from long range at the conclusion of the contest. East Central was quite the opposite, only shooting 36.2 percent in the game, with a 25 percent mark from deep. Ouachita also did a great job of taking care of the ball, only committing 10 turnovers while forcing East Central into 15.

The Tigers look to move to 2-0 in conference play on Saturday, when they host the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State. That game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
