Volleyball Closes Out Season Sweep of Henderson State on Thursday Night

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Thursday night volleyball action in Arkadelphia was tense, with round two of this year's Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine series taking place on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University. The Ouachita Lady Tigers (10-16, 7-7 GAC) completed their season sweep of the Henderson State Lady Reddies (7-23, 2-12 GAC), taking the game in three sets and closing out their last home game of the season in style.

The victory marked the last time that seniors Jillian Jeffcoat, Megan Askew and Allison Frizzell will ever play at home, capping off three stellar careers.

Ouachita posted 44 kills in the game, with 13 coming from Abby Pickett and 10 coming from Askew. Although the match was tight from the get-go, the Lady Tigers hit .154 in the game, practically clinching the victory over the Lady Reddies.

Savannah White and Sara Mitchell split the assist totals, with 23 and 17 respectively. Askew and Frizzell led the way in digs, with both of them spending much of the game diving on the floor. Askew finished with 19 digs, while Frizzell recorded 16.

The number of lead changes and tie games were a testament to how tight the game was, with the game ending up tied 24 times and with the lead changing hands 12 times.

The Lady Tigers season isn't over yet, as they will travel to the 2012 edition of the Great American Conference Tournament, which kicks off next Thursday, November 15. The tournament will be hosted by Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
