MAGNOLIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Tigers (12-9, 5-6 GAC) traveled to Magnolia, Arkansas on Thursday, looking to steal a road victory from the Southern Arkansas Muleriders (12-11, 5-6 GAC). The Tigers posted an impressive performance, clinching the victory and improving their standing in GAC play with a 70-57 win.
Ouachita was led by junior
Austin Mitchell, who recorded a game-high 21 points while also grabbing three rebounds. Junior
Julian LaDay added 13 points of his own while junior
Michael Morris added 12. Junior
Nigel Ramsey recorded a team-high five rebounds while sophomore
Eric Braeuer added a team-high six assists.
Southern Arkansas was led by Chris Davis, who recorded 20 points for the Muleriders, including a seven of 12 performance from the floor. Rodney Hill added 14 points for SAU while Juvon Demerson added 13. Jonathan Clay recorded a team-high five rebounds.
Ouachita shot an impressive 53 percent from the floor, including an eight of eight performance from Mitchell. SAU only shot 39.6 percent from the floor, including a one of 12 performance from behind the three point line. Ouachita forced Southern Arkansas into 25 turnovers while only turning it over 17 times themselves.
Ouachita returns to action on Saturday, when they host Southeastern Oklahoma at Bill Vining Arena. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
