Lady Tigers Win Streak Snapped by Arkansas Tech

Box Score

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The two longest win streaks in the Great American Conference were carried into Bill Vining Arena on Thursday night, and as sad as it was, one of them had to be snapped. The Ouachita Lady Tigers (16-9, 9-6 GAC) came into the game riding a five game win streak while the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech (21-3, 12-3 GAC) came in riding a nine game win streak. The Lady Tigers held a 37-36 lead at halftime, but the Golden Suns' second half effort was too much, ending the Lady Tigers streak with an 80-70 loss.

Ouachita struggled from the floor, only making 33.8 percent of their shots, but hung tough behind their defense, forcing 19 turnovers. Senior Domino Miller posted a 15 point performance for the Lady Tigers, also adding four assists and two steals, while senior Beulah Osueke finished with a double-double, recording 11 points and 10 rebounds. Senior A'Laeshia Adams added 12 points for Ouachita, also adding a block and a steal.

Arkansas Tech was led by Roselis Silva, who had a huge game, dropping 27 points and dishing out three assists. Natalia Santos recorded 18 points and three rebounds. Lily Abreu added 13 for the Golden Suns while Jessica Weatherford added 11. Weatherford also picked up a double-double, adding 11 rebounds for the Golden Suns.

Tech made 50 percent of their shots in the game, while also draining 20 of 28 free throws in the game. Ouachita was outrebounded 35 to 23 in the game but still managed to take 18 more shots than the Golden Suns.

Ouachita returns to action on Saturday, when they host Arkansas-Monticello. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
