Lady Tigers Record Road Victory Against SWOSU

Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okl.- It took a made free throw by sophomore Nashia James with one second left in the second half, but the Lady Tigers (12-8, 5-5) were able to prevail over Southwestern Oklahoma State (13-6, 8-2) and sweep the season series against the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, taking the game by a score of 88-87. The Lady Tigers didn't hold a lead in the second half until James' free throw fell through, sending the Lady Tigers home with a road victory, but more importantly, a conference road victory.

James had a huge game for the Lady Tigers, recording a career high and a game high 27 points. Senior Tamara Robinson recorded 17 points for Ouachita while adding a team high seven rebounds, while senior Domino Miller recorded 15 points, adding a team high five assists. Senior Sarah Pugh recorded 10 points for the Lady Tigers as well. The Lady Tigers shot an impressive 51.6 percent from the floor, including a second half performance in which they made 70 percent of their shots.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by SaRaya Oyler, who recorded a team high 19 points. Sumiya Darded added 16 for SWOSU while Jasmine Noldon recorded 15 points of her own. Darden recorded a double-double while also recording 10 a game high 10 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Southwestern shot 47.2 percent from the floor in the game.

Ouachita turned the ball over 16 times while Southwestern only turned it over 12 times. The Lady Tigers countered the turnover category though by winning the rebound totals, recording 27 rebounds as compared to the Lady Bulldogs 24.

The Lady Tigers return to action on Thursday, February 9, when they play their fifth consecutive road game at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
