Box Score BARTLESVILLE, Okla.- It took a 49 point offensive surge in the second half, but the Tigers recorded a win in their first ever Great American Conference postseason game. The Tigers had four players finish with double digit points totals, including two players who finished with double-doubles en route to an 85-65 victory over the No. 5 seeded Southeastern Oklahoma Savage Storm. Ouachita trailed by one at halftime, but put it on Southeastern in the second half, holding them to 28 points, while scoring 49 of their own.
Ouachita was led by junior
Michael Morris, who finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Morris also added two blocks and three steals. Junior
Austin Mitchell recorded 21 points and four rebounds in the game, while junior
Nigel Ramsey added another double-double for the Tigers, finishing with 17 points and 11 assists. Senior
Emmanuel Engulu rounded out the field of double digit performers for the Tigers, posting 13 points and two rebounds.
Southeastern was led by Zac Downing, who finished with 16 points and three assists in the game. Urald King and Antonio Worthy both added 11 points for the Savage Storm, while Steven Kohli added eight points and eight rebounds. Although he posted 11 points, King also committed five of the 14 turnovers for Southeastern, allowing Ouachita the opportunity for points off turnovers.
Ouachita recorded 39 rebounds in the game, while Southeastern grabbed 30. Ouachita took special care of the ball as well, only turning over the ball 10 times while forcing 14 from the Savage Storm. Ouachita finished the game shooting an unwordly 53 percent, while holding Southeastern to 43.9 percent from the floor.
After winning their first round game, the Tigers secured themselves a spot in the Conference Semifinals, where they will face off with No. 1 seeded Arkansas Tech on Saturday. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
