Tigers Claim Pair of Early Week Victories, Including 6-1 Rout

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita men's soccer team (3-3) appears to be back on track, after claiming two victories on back-to-back days this week. The men traveled to Conway on Monday evening, where they took a 1-0 victory over the Mustangs, which they followed with a 6-1 victory over Southwest Baptist at home on Tuesday.

The Tigers lone goal on Monday came from Rizvan Ceka, while Wayne Smith recorded two saves during the 90 minute contest at goalkeeper. The Tigers scored in the first half of play and never relented, holding on to win the game.

The more notable game of their early week victories though was their victory over Southwest Baptist, when they literally controlled every aspect of the game. The Tigers scored four goals in the first half, while not allowing the Bearcats but four shots. They literally controlled the tempo of the game from the get-go, as Josh Galante scored on a pass from Ceka just four minutes into the contest. Ceka extended the Tiger lead to two goals just a mere four minutes later, as he netted a shot of his own.

Daniel Lockridge got in on the action about 31 minutes into the contest, when Clayton Case drew the goalie and passed to a wide open Lockridge for an easy score and a 3-0 Tiger lead. It only took Case about four minutes to add another though, as he headed in a cross from Bry Goss to push the score to 4-0 in favor of the Tigers.

Case wasn't finished yet though, as he gave the Tigers a bit more breathing room in the 73rd minute of the contest, scoring his second goal of the afternoon and getting Goss another assist. Southwest Baptist's Colton Harden was finally able to get them on the board in the 76th minute of the game, but Lockridge would negate that goal just minutes later with his second of the game.

The Tigers carry a two game win streak into their next game, when they face Texas College at home on Friday afternoon. That game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
