Lady Tigers Own Game Against Texas College in 6-0 Rout

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- On a cloudy Friday afternoon in Arkadelphia, the Ouachita Lady Tigers (4-1) were everything but complacent against the Lady Steers of Texas College (1-4). Ouachita controlled the game from the opening minute, literally getting every opportunity that they wanted. They finished the game with 40 total shots, 23 of which were on goal.

It took them a few minutes to get going, but Jessica Allen took the honors of the first goal for the Lady Tigers, rebounding a ball off of the goalie and knocking it into the net at the 25 minute mark of the first half. It didn't take Allen long to add another either, as she knocked through her second goal of the afternoon just three minutes later.

With the Lady Tigers up 2-0, Allison Drobena added another goal, scoring at the 39 minute mark after a rebound off of a Texas College player ended up at her feet, which she took advantage of.

The next goal for the Lady Tigers came at the beginning of the second half, when Taylor Gay scored off of a rebound from a Texas College player, stretching the Ouachita lead to 4-0 and recording her only goal of the game.

The Lady Tigers weren't satisifed with a 4-0 lead though, as Morgan Pitchford continued to pad the stats for Ouachita, scoring a goal in the 77th minute from about 20 yards out.

The game seemed to be over as the last minute of play began, but it was not to be, as a foul in the penalty box awarded the Lady Tigers a penalty kick, which Sarah McKimmey capitalized on, sending the Lady Tigers home with a 6-0 victory and moving to 4-1 on the season.

Ouachita took a total of 40 shots in the game, compared to the three that they allowed by the Lady Steers. Ouachita also had seven corner kick opportunities in the contest, while only allowing a single corner kick for Texas College.

Shelby Shepherd was in the net for the Lady Tigers, recording three saves throughout the 90 minute contest. Diana Martinez handled those duties for Texas College, recording 17 saves in the game, but giving up the Lady Tigers' six goals.

Ouachita returns to the field on Friday September, 21, when they travel to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on Southern Nazarene.
