SEARCY, Ark.- It was an unusual finish for the Ouachita Lady Tigers (11-2, 6-1 GAC), as they fell to the Harding Lady Bisons (9-4, 5-2 GAC) by a final score of 66-58 despite forcing 29 turnovers. The Lady Tigers struggled to make their shots from the floor, shooting just 31.3 percent from the floor, while also being outrebounded by a total of 53-33.
It seemed like everything was going the Lady Tigers' way in the first half, as they jumped out to a lead, which they stretched to eight points. Harding rebounded from the deficit however, bouncing back and taking a 34-27 lead at halftime.
A number of runs from both teams resulted in an interesting second half. The Lady Tigers cut the Lady Bison lead to just one point before seeing a run the other way and falling behind by as much as 11 in the second half. A bucket with just two seconds left cut the Harding lead to eight points where it would stay until the conclusion of the contest.
Monica Williams finished with another double-double, notching 19 points and 10 rebounds in the game.
Breanna Harris posted nine points in the game, while
Nashia James finished with eight.
The trio of Shana Holmes, Arielle Saunders and Deshelle Isaac-Boyce proved to be too much for the Lady Tigers, putting up 16, 14 and 12 points respectively in the game. Saunders finished the game with a double-double, recording 14 rebounds, while Celsor and Montana Lewis both grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lady Bisons.
Ouachita will return home to the friendly confines of Bill Vining Arena on Thursday, when they host Northwestern State University. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
