Tigers Dominate in 5-2 Victory Over SBU

Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. – The OBU Tiger soccer team gained a 5-2 victory over the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats on Tuesday, earning their second win of the season.
 
SBU jumped out to an early lead in the first half off of a goal by senior Kaleb Romero in the 22nd minute. The Tigers answered quickly, however, with a penalty kick scored by senior Nathan Gay. The teams went into halftime tied at one.
 
In the second half, the first score came from the Bearcats once again when senior Bradley Stillwagon scored on an assist from sophomore Mata Gaspar.
 
After the second score from SBU, the Tigers took complete control, scoring four goals in the final 12 minutes. The first of the four was scored in the 78th minute by sophomore Taylor Christian and assisted by freshman Spencer Soles. Less than three minutes later, freshman Ian Monteiro scored again for OBU, followed by a goal from Soles shortly after. In the 85th minute, freshman Ryan Trayner scored the fifth goal for the Tigers, with an assist from freshman Gideon Onguti.
 
OBU's junior goalkeeper David Henley finished the game with two saves.
 
The Tigers play again on Monday, Oct. 7th, when they travel to Searcy, Ark. to take on the Harding University Bison. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
