Homecoming Preview: Tiger Football Looking For Fifth Straight Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Baptist Tigers (4-0) will be looking for their second home win and fifth straight win as they welcome the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (0-5) to A.U. Williams Field on Saturday, October, 12, 2013. The Tigers claimed their fourth straight vicotry last week with a dominating 31-14 road win over Soutwestern Oklahoma State.

The Tiger defense held Southwestern Oklahoma State to 133 total yards of offense. Going into the game, the Bulldogs had been averaging 446 yards-per-game. On the season the Tigers are only allowing 15.5 points per game, tops in the conference. That doesn't bode well for a Ranger offense that is only averaging 8.8 points a contest.

For the second straight week, senior defensive end Antwion Patterson earned GAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. In weeks four and five, Patterson had 19 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two pass break-ups. Patterson ranks first in the GAC in sacks (1.3) and in tackles for a loss (2.1) per game. He ranks in the top 10 in both categories in Division II.

The Tiger offense ranks first in the GAC and second in Division II in third down conversion percentage (.565 %). The Tigers have outscored their opponents 149 – 62. They are averaging 442.2 yards of offense per game.

Last week the Tigers' rushing attack, ranked second in the GAC (202.2 ypg), was held to a season low 96 yards. In response, junior quarterback Benson Jordan went 34-49 for a season high 364 yards and a touchdown. He found freshman wide receiver Ke'Vontae Pope 14 times for 135 yards. Pope had three receptions of over 16 yards.

The Tigers will be looking to add to their offensive numbers this week against a SWOSU defense that ranks ninth in total defense (468.8 ypg) and tenth in scoring defense (43.6 pts. per game). Look for Jordan to lead a balanced attack that will feature running backs Chris Rycraw and Steven Kehner grinding it out on the ground and him finding a corp of receivers led by Pope and Drew White, who lead the team in receptions and receiving touchdowns respectively.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm. The Tigers are 2-3 all-time against Northwestern Oklahoma State.  The Tigers won the last meeting 55-3.

On the season:

Linebacker Augustine Ume-Ezeoke leads the team in tackles with 33 (16 solo). Patterson is second with 29 (10 tackles for loss). Linebacker Rickey Brown is third with 27 (18 solo).

Chris Rycraw leads the team in rushing at 88.5 ypg. He also leads the team in touchdowns scored with five.

Six different Tigers have intercepted a pass this season, highlighted by Devon Cousins 99-yard return for a touchdown against Southeasten Okalahoma State.

Kicker Matthew Ehasz is 5-6 on field goal attempts this season. All six attempts have come from the 30-39 yard range. He is 18-18 on PATs.

Benson Jordan, ranks second in the GAC and eighth in Div. II with a completion percentage of .685%.

Punter Clark Gaddis has averaged 40 yards per punt this season. Of his 12 punts, seven have dropped inside the 20. He has two punts of 50-plus yards, with a longest of 56.
