Box Score DALLAS, TEXAS – The Ouachita Tigers won a shootout in Dallas on Saturday, defeating the Dallas Baptist University Patriots 3-2.
The Tigers did not waste any time after kickoff, scoring before the five-minute mark. The goal came from senior
Jared Carlin in the fourth minute, and was assisted by freshman
Sewell Yost.
After OBU gained the 1-0 lead, the game continued to be very offensive. Nine minutes after the goal by Carlin, the Patriots tied the score with a goal from a free-kick by sophomore Brian Robertson. Seven minutes after DBU's goal, the Tigers took the lead once again when freshman
Ryan Trayner netted a shot to make the score 2-1.
For the rest of the 35 minutes of the first half, both teams continued to take shots, but good defense from both teams ended the half with the score still 2-1.
In the second half, Dallas Baptist struck first in the 56
th minute. Sophomore Cameron Gilbert evened the score at 2-2, and sophomore Matthew Buckwalter earned the assist. Nine minutes later, however, OBU freshman
Brandon Hom scored off a corner kick to give the Tigers their third lead of the game.
The goal from Hom turned out to be the winning goal, as the Tigers finished the game on top, 3-2.
Junior
David Henley earned the win as goalkeeper, recording seven saves in the process.
The Tigers (4-6-1) have won three of their last four games, beating their opponents by a score of 9-5. They look to continue their impressive run as they play again at home on Oct. 15 for a game against Union University. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
