3-0 Tigers Travel To Southwestern Oklahoma State

The Tigers are 3-0 for the season (3-0 conference, 2-0 road, 1-0 home). In their home win last week against Southeastern Oklahoma St. (45-7), the Tigers set a GAC conference record forcing seven turnovers, highlighted by a 99 yard interception return for a touchdown by junior Devon Cousins.

Week four GAC Defensive Player of the Week, senior defensive lineman Antwion Patterson recorded 4.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He ranks ninth in Division II in tackles-for-loss with a 2.2 per-game average. He ranks first in the GAC with an average of one sack per game.

The Tiger defense is tied for first in the GAC in scoring defense, averaging 16 points allowed per contest. Saturday's opponent, Southwestern Oklahoma State, ranks second in that category, allowing opponents an average of 19.2 points per game.

OBU's defense has allowed six touchdowns so far this season, best in the GAC.

The Tigers have not allowed an opponent to score in the third quarter this season.

The Tigers lead Division II with a +7 turnover margin, forcing an average of 2.33 turnovers per game. On offense, the Tigers have only turned the ball over twice this season, also tops in Division II.
  
Linebacker Augustine Ume- Ezeoke is sixth in the GAC with an average of 8.3 tackles per game.

Devon Cousins ranks sixth in the GAC in passes defended with a 1.33 per-game average.

The Tigers have the second ranked rushing offense in the GAC. They are averaging 237.7 yards a game.

Chris Rycraw is second in the GAC with a 107 yard per-game average and has five rushing touchdowns. He currently ranks second in touchdowns scored in the GAC  

Steven Kehner ranks eighth with an average of 71 rushing yards per game.  He's scored two rushing touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass in the OBU win over Southeastern.

Quarterback Benson Jordan is third in the conference with a 141.5 efficiency rating and ranks seventh in total offense. Jordan has directed an offense that has outscored their opponents 118- 48 in the first three games of the season, averaging 39.3 points per contest.

The Tiger's leading receiver, Drew White, has four touchdown receptions this season. He is tied for fifth in the GAC in touchdowns scored.   

This week's game against Southwestern Oklahoma State will be the inaugural Paul Sharp Cup. Sharp, an OBU alum and former offensive coordinator (1977-78), won a SWOSU record 93 games as their head coach, including the 1996 NAIA National Championship.

The Tigers lead the all-time series against SWOSU 7-2. Last season, OBU won at home 33-12, scoring 21 unanswered points in the second half.  Chris Rycraw rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown. Drew White had six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Corner Etauj Allen had eight tackles and 5 pass-breakups.
