Tigers Fall to ECU in Five Sets

Box Score ADA, Okla. – OBU Tiger volleyball lost a five-set match against East Central on Saturday, bringing their conference record to 7-6. Final set scores were 25-15, 14-25, 18-25, 25-16, 9-15.
 
The Tigers completely dominated the first set, finishing with 16 total kills and only one attack error. OBU's attack percentage of .556 in the first set was the highest of either team throughout the match. Kelsi Bodine and Stephanie Pollnow led the attack for the Tigers in the first set, each scoring four kills.
 
The second set was a completely different outcome in which the Tigers fell to East Central 14-25. Ouachita had trouble continuing their success from the first set, as they recorded only six kills and a match-high eight attack errors.
 
The Tigers improved their play in the third set as they committed only five attack errors. OBU was not able to hold off ECU's attack, however, and lost the third set 18-25.
 
With their backs against the wall, the Tiger stormed back and won the fourth set 25-16. Bodine led the charge once again, earning three kills in the set. Overall, the Tigers committed just four errors in the set and earned 14 kills.
 
In the final set of the match, ECU prevailed because of their only two attack errors, to OBU's seven.
 
Bodine led the Tigers with 14 kills. She also committed only three attack errors to finish with a team-high attack percentage of .324. Kelley Ballard also added 11 kills in the contest.
 
Tara Wait was back in action for Ouachita after being sidelined with an injury, earning 45 assists in the match.
 
Jayme Shell led the Tigers on defense, recording 15 digs. Ashley Wake also chipped in with 13 digs, and Chelsey Hess had 11.
 
The Tigers (14-11, 7-6) take the court again on Thursday, Nov. 14, as they walk across the street to Henderson State to compete in the Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
