Box Score COMMERCE, Texas - The Lady Tigers were defeated by the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Thursday, despite having the lead at halftime. The final score was 64-68.
The Lady Tigers took the early lead and maintained a steady lead for almost all of the first half. OBU's ability to get to the free-throw line became the difference in the first half, as they recorded 11 points from the stripe.Â
In the first half, Nashia James scored a team-high nine points. James also added three rebounds and two assists. Alexis Sharp provided a lift from the bench, scoring seven points in just 10 minutes.
Ouachita kept their lead for the first seven minutes of the second half, until the Lions claimed a 42-43 lead with 13 minutes left to play. The Lions then took over, going on an 8-0 run and eventually claiming a lead as large as 10. Despite late comeback efforts by the Lady Tigers, the Lions were able to walk away with the win.
The Lady Tigers' three-point shooting became the difference in the game, as they shot only 3-20 for the game and 0-11 in the second half. They did, however, have success from the free-throw line, shooting 15-20.
A&M-Commerce's Danielle Dixon led all scorers with 22 points. Dixon also grabbed seven boards.
James led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, four assists and three steals. James was on the court for 39 minutes of the 40-minute game. Elise Holman added 11 points for OBU, and recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, seven of which were offensive. Breanna Harris also added 11 points and three assists.
The Lady Tigers (1-7, 0-3) are back at home on Thursday, Jan. 2, as they take on conference-opponent Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
