Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – It was a tale of two halves for the Ouachita Tigers Thursday night at Bill Vining Arena. Despite strong second-half play, it was not enough to overcome an 11-point first-half deficit. The Tigers would fall to Southern Arkansas 71-60.
The Tigers shot 32% from the floor in the first half and committed 12 turovers. The Muleriders were able to capitalize on those mistakes, scoring 10 of their 31 first-half points off turnovers. The Muleriders found early success in the post, scoring half of those 31 points in the point.
SAU jumped out to an early lead and with 2:54 left before halftime, led by 17. The Tigers would close out the first half with a 6-0 run to cut that lead to 11.
Eric Braeuer led the Tigers with five points at halftime.
Ouachita would build off the momentum to close out the first half, and started the second half with an 11-0 run to tie the game at 31-31.
Sterling Bailey would hit three consecutive three-pointers during the run. The hot start from beyond the arc forced the Muleriders to extend their defense and the Tigers were able to capitalize. The Tigers doubled their production inside in the second half, scoring 16 points in the paint.
Despite matching the Muleriders point for point in the second half, it was not enough to overcome the first-half deficit and the Tigers (2-5) would fall at home 71-60 to SAU.
Colt Fason led the Tigers with 13 points and eight rebounds. He shot 60% from the field.
Sterling Bailey scored 12, all on three-pointers.
Micah Delph scored 11 points and dished out five assists.
Eric Braeuer finished with 10 points and three steals.
The Muleriders were led by Tre'von Wilkerson with 13 points.
