Lady Tigers Unable to Match Offensive Pace of Southwestern Oklahoma

Box Score
WEATHERFORD, Okla.-It was a tough afternoon in Oklahoma for the Ouachita Lady Tiger basketball team, as they dropped a conference road contest to the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma by a score of 88-62.

The loss marks the fifth straight for the Lady Tigers (15-8, 10-7 GAC), who are fighting for seeding in the Great American Conference tournament. Southwestern Oklahoma (20-5, 15-4 GAC) is in a hunt of their own, as they are in a battle for a regular season conference championship.

The Lady Tigers held a lead for much of the first half, stretching it to as many as five points at one time. However, Southwestern fought their way back late in the half and went on a 7-0 run to close the half, giving them an eight point lead at the half.

Ouachita never regained their footing from that point on, as the Bulldogs ran away with the game and captured a 26 point victory over the Lady Tigers.

Ouachita was outrebounded and committed more turnovers than the Lady Bulldogs, which is never a good formula if a team is going to win. Monica Williams did everything in her power to win the game, scoring 19 points and recording six rebounds in the game. Nashia James was the only other double-digit scorer, as she finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Michelle Fisher proved to be the Lady Tigers' kryptonite, putting up 28 points and shooting 47 percent from the floor in the game. Elizabeth Lay finished with 12 points, while SaRaya Oyler finished with 10.

Ouachita is back on the hardwood tomorrow, when they travel to Alva, Oklahoma to take on the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
