ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- A trip across the street proved to be a heartbreaking one for the Ouachita Lady Tigers on Thursday evening, as they lost in the Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine by a score of 58-56 to Henderson State.

The first half saw the Lady Tigers (16-9, 11-8 GAC)  jumping out to a quick lead, with a seven point lead less than three minutes into the game. However, the Lady Reddies (12-13, 7-12 GAC) bounced back quickly, taking a lead of their own, which they would hold for the majority of the half.

Henderson led by as many as 10, but the Lady Tigers answered back with a barrage of threes and sent the game into halftime with a 28-28 tie. Monica Williams contributed half of the team's scoring in the half, with 14 points.

In the second half, the Lady Tigers and Lady Reddies battled back and forth, but in the end, six missed free throws from the Lady Tigers doomed them. A desperation shot to tie the game from Monica Williams rimmed out as the buzzer sounded, signaling a Lady Tiger loss.

Williams led the team with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Katherine West and Nashia James both contributed 10 points.

Henderson used Destiny Smith's 21 points and 15 rebounds along with Krystal Beachum's 15 points to seal the win.

The Lady Tigers struggled on the boards, as the Lady Reddies recorded 55 rebounds to Ouachita's 32. Three point shooting kept the Lady Tigers in the game, as they made eight in the game compared to just two from Henderson.

The Lady Tigers close out the regular season on Saturday, when they host the University of Arkansas-Monticello in a conference battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Bill Vining Arena.
