Micah Delph scored 22 points in the final 10 minutes to earn the Tigers' second conference win in-a-row, 87-81 over Northwestern Oklahoma State Thursday night. It was the Tigers first road-win of the season.
Delph was lights-out from the three-point line. He shot 10-13 for the game, hitting seven of those in the final 10-minute flurry that put the game away. Ouachita shot 77% from beyond the arc in the second half and outscored the Rangers 58-47.
The Tigers trailed 34-29 at the end of the first half. Ouachita led for much of the first half, but the Rangers scored the final 11 points to take the five point lead into the locker room at the break.
Delph has 11 points in the first half, going 3-4 from three point range.
Colt Fason scored eight.
The Tigers started the second half with a 7-0 run to retake the lead, 36-34. Both teams would exchange leads until the 15 minute mark, when
Allen Buchanan would put the Tigers up for good with a layup.
Northwestern never trailed by more six for most of the remainder of the second half and several times seemed to steal momentum away from the Tigers. Each time the Rangers seemed poised for a run,
Micah Delph would hit another long-range dagger to keep them at bay.
With just over 11 minutes left in the game, Delph would hit five threes on seven Tiger possessions.
Delph's 36 points were a season high and his 10 threes were the most by a Tiger in a game this century.
Colt Fason had 22 points on 8-12 shooting and seven rebounds.
Eric Braeuer scored seven points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists.
For the game, the Tigers shot 57 % from the floor and 61% from the three-point line.
The Tigers travel to Weather ford, Oklahoma this Saturday to take on the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State. Tipoff is set for 4:00 pm.
