Strong First Half Shooting Not Enough For Lady Tigers To Overcome Ranger 3s.

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A barrage of Ranger three-pointers in the first half were too much for the Lady Tigers to overcome in Alva, Oklahoma Thursday night as Ouachita fell to Northwestern Oklahoma State 73-56.

Despite shooting 55% from the field in the first half, the Lady Tigers (3-10, 1-6 GAC) couldn't find a way to cool down the hot-shooting Gilmore twins, who combined for 6-6 half beyond the arc. As a team, the Rangers shot 73% from the three-point line in the first half.

The Lady Tigers were led by Elise Holman in the first half with eight points on 4-7 shooting and four rebounds.

The second half was a turn-around defensively for Ouachita. The Lady Tigers made the necessary adjustments ad held Northwestern Oklahoma State (3-11, 3-5 GAC) to only two three-point attempts in the second half. Ouachita also forced nine Ranger turnovers.

Down 18 points at the start of the second half, the Lady Tigers clawed their way back to within eight with 12:53 left on a Katie Kapler jumper.
The Rangers responded with an 8-0 run to put the score at 56-40with just over nine minutes left.

Breanna Harris would score eight points to lead a Lady Tiger 12-2 run to cut the Northwestern lead to six, 58-52 with 5:46 left in the game. Ouachita would only muster four more points in the game as they fell victim to cold shooting and turnovers.

The Lady Tigers were led by Breanna Harris with 13 points. Elise Holman finished with 12 points and a game high eight rebounds. The Lady Tigers outscored the Rangers in the paint 36-20. They out-rebounded the Rangers 32-30.

The Lady Tigers travel to Weatherford, Oklahoma on Saturday to play the Lady Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm.
