Lady Tigers Lose Despite 22 Points From James

Box Score WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Nashia James gave the Lady Tigers a 22-point effort on Saturday, but it was not enough as Ouachita lost to the Southwestern Oklahoma State Lady Bulldogs 93-72.
 
The teams traded leads back-and-forth early in the game until Michelle Fisher nailed a three for the Lady Bulldogs which put SWOSU up 14-13. Southwestern was able to maintain their lead for the rest of the half, going into the break ahead 45-41.
 
Free-throws were the difference in the first half, as the Lady Tigers shot only 4-8 from the line while the Lady Bulldogs were able to net 12-12 from the charity stripe. The Lady Tigers ended the first half shooting 42% from the field, including nine points from Breanna Harris on 4-8 shooting. Nashia James added seven points for the Lady Tigers, and Elise Holman recorded five points, four rebounds and two assists.
 
Southwestern's Sarina Sayama took over the game in the second half, scoring 17 points on 6-9 shooting. Sayama and the Lady Bulldogs shot 59% from the field in the half, which helped them seal the 93-72 win.
 
Ouachita struggled from the field in the second half shooting only 25%. The Lady Tigers did improve their free-throw shooting, however, netting 13-16. James kept the Lady Tigers in the game, scoring 15 points in the second half, including two three-pointers. Holman also scored in double-digits, adding 10.
 
Sayama finished with a game-high 28 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Her teammate, Fisher added 24 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
James led the Lady Tigers with 22 points and three steals. Holman scored 15 and added a team-high six boards.
 
The Lady Tigers (3-11, 1-7) are at home on Tuesday, Jan. 21, as they take on the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
