Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – With the help of 18 second-half points from
Colt Fason, the Tigers traveled across the street and beat Henderson State 61-59 in the Battle of the Ravine.
Both the Tigers and Reddies struggled from the field early on in the game. Henderson was able to claim an early lead, however, until back-to-back three pointers from
Allen Buchanan and a three from
Eric Braeuer carried the Tigers on a 9-2 run to take the 20-19 lead with 3:25 to play in the first half. The Reddies would respond quickly and go into halftime up 28-23.
The Reddies maintained their lead for most of the second half, until the Tigers climbed back with a 12-4 run with 7:48 to play that started with nine straight points from Fason. The final seven minutes of the game featured four lead changes until Henderson tied the score at 59-59 with 35 seconds to play.
On the final possession of the game, the Tigers went to
Micah Delph who nailed a deep two-point basket with just three seconds left, which ended up being the game-winner.
The Tigers ended the game shooting 43.6% from the field compared to the Reddies 41.7% shooting. Fason led the way with 18, followed by Delph with 12 and Buchanan with 11. Fason added 11 rebounds and Delph added eight assists and four rebounds.
Kyle Francis provided a dominated presence inside, recording seven boards and a blocked shot.
The Tigers (6-10, 3-7) travel to Southern Arkansas University on Saturday, Jan. 25, to take on the Muleriders at 4:00 p.m.
