MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers came up short on Saturday, losing to the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders 66-55.
The scoring was relatively even in the first half, in which neither team could claim a lead larger than five points. The Lady Tigers only shot 33.3% in the half, however, compared to SAU's 48.1% which helped the Lady Muleriders take the 33-30 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Muleriders never looked back, leading the rest of the game until the game ended with SAU on top 66-55. Southern Arkansas' Barvion Wyatt led all scorers with 16 points, followed by Stevi Cooper and Katherine McBride with 10 each. As a team, SAU shot 48.9% from the field and made all of their baskets inside the three-point line.
The Lady Tigers were led by Elise Holman, who scored 15 points in 19 minutes and grabbed five boards. Katie Kapler followed with 10 points and eight rebounds. Ouachita shot only 14.3% from deep and 53.3% from the free-throw line.
The Lady Tigers (4-13, 2-9) are at home on Thursday, Jan. 30, for a conference matchup against Southeastern Oklahoma State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
