Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Despite a 10-point first half lead, the Tigers fell to the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys on Thursday, by a score of 66-54.
The first half featured five ties and six lead changes in the first 13 minutes. With 7:06 to play, however,
Micah Delph put the Tigers up 16-13 with a bucket from behind the arc. Delph's three led OBU on a 13-2 run before the half came to a close at 29-19 in favor of the Tigers.
The Tigers created major problems for the Wonder Boys as Tech shot 0-7 from three-point range and only 31.8% from the field. Ouachita shot 46.2% from the field and 33.3% from deep. The Tigers also forced 11 Tech turnovers.
Delph led the way in the first half, leading everyone with nine points, four assists and two steals.
Colt Fason finished the half with seven points, and
Carven Holcolmbe led all players with seven rebounds.
Arkansas Tech opened the second half going on a 28-5 run to take at 47-35 lead with 9:32 to play. The Wonder Boys maintained their lead throughout the half and at one point held a 13-point lead. The second half eventually came to a close, with the Wonder Boys ahead 66-54.
The Tigers were able to shoot 42.9% from the field in the second half, but Tech's lights-out shooting of 76.5% helped the Wonder Boys steal the win. OBU also committed 11 turnovers and lost the rebound battle 7-16 in the half.
Tech's Bobby Hatchett led all scorers with 25 points and also led his team with six boards.
Delph led OBU in scoring with 14 points followed by Fason with 12. Delph added six assists, and
Carven Holcolmbe led all players with eight rebounds.
The Tigers (3-8, 0-5) are at home on Saturday, Jan. 11, as they battle Harding at 4 p.m.
