Lady Tigers Earn First GAC Win at Tech

Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The OBU Lady Tigers earned their first GAC win of the season on Thursday, defeating Arkansas Tech 72-60.
 
The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 11-0 lead over Golden Suns thanks in part to two quick three's by guard Nashia James. Despite multiple runs by the Golden Suns, the Lady Tigers maintained their lead for all but 12 seconds of the first half. The half came to a close with the Lady Tigers up 31-28.
 
James led all scorers in the first half with 11 points. She also dished out three assists and grabbed three steals. As a team, Ouachita shot 50% from field goal range and 44.4% from deep, while limiting Tech to only 34.8% shooting.
 
In the second half, the Lady Tigers never led by less than three points. As the Golden Suns climbed back into the game, Macey Burr nailed a three-pointer with eight minutes left to end Tech's run. Ouachita then received clutch free-throw shooting from Katherine West, Breanna Harris and Elise Holman to end the game with the Lady Tigers up by 12.
 
West scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half, including eight free-throws. James also scored 10 in the half behind 4-6 shooting from the field.
 
The Lady Tigers finished with their second highest shooting game of the season, scoring 45.8% of their shots from the field. OBU also out-rebounded the Golden Suns 41-36.
 
James scored a game-high 21 points, her highest scoring output of the season. West followed with 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
 
The Lady Tigers (3-8, 1-4) are at home on Saturday, Jan. 11, as they take on Harding at 2 p.m.
