Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers ended a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Central Baptist College tonight in the Sturgis Physical Education Center in front of a crowd of 153.
Stephanie Pollnow led the Tigers with nine kills and two blocks. Freshman
Caitlin Cantrell finished with six kills.,
The Tigers went to work early in set one, jumping out to a 13-6 lead and forcing the Lady Mustangs to take a timeout. Ouachita held onto the lead for a 25-13 win.
Kori Bullard led the Tigers with four kills in the set. Set two was a back and forth match with four lead changes and 10 ties. Ouachita trailed 23-21 with the Lady Mustangs holding serve. Two kills by
Jayme Shell combined with two errors by CBC gave Ouachita a 25-23 win.
Set three belonged to the Tigers, who had their largest lead of the match in the set 19-8. Cantrell, along with
Brandi Armfield and
Chelsey Hess, provided a strong presence on the front line in the third. A 9-4 run by CBC brought them within six late in the set, but Ouachita would prevail 25-18.
Freshman
Madeline Walls and
Kelsey Bradley both saw significant playing time in the match. Bradley had a season-high seven assists, while Walls had four kills, two digs and swung at a .500% rate.
Lauren Perry had a season-high with three kills and a .333 attack percentage.
Ouachita faces conference rival Henderson State next Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the Sturgis Physical Education Center. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers will be raising money during the game for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the seniors will be honored following the match.
