Box Score Despite two second-half goals, The Ouachita Tigers women's soccer team couldn't complete the comeback, falling 3-2 to the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs controlled the first half, going into the break with a 2-0 lead. The first goal came in the 20
th minute, when Charlotte Eastman headed a ball into the back of the net off of a corner kick by Olivia Butler. SWOSU's Cori Kelly drilled a shot from 25 yards out in the 42
nd minute.
Ouachita ended the first half with only three shots to SWOSU's twelve.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard first in the second half, with freshman
Kasey Smith scoring in the 55
th minute after an initial shot by
Haley Hatcher was blocked by the Bulldog keeper. The goal was Smith's third of the season.
The Bulldogs answered quickly with a goal in the 58
th minute. The goal was scored by Charlotte Eastman, her second of the day, via a free kick from 23 yards out.
Ouachita pulled back within one when
Haley Hatcher scored her GAC-leading 7
th goal in the 78
th minute. The Southwestern defense held the Tigers scoreless in the remaining twelve minutes of the game, sealing a loss for Ouachita.
Lauren Llanas started at keeper for Ouachita for the second-straight game, finishing with eight saves, five coming in the second half.
Haley Hatcher led the Tigers with seven shots, four of them being on goal.
The Tigers (2-8-1, 1-2-0 GAC) will host Southern Nazarene on Thursday, October 9. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
