Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - After two first-half goals and a game-winning goal in the 89th minute by Haley Hatcher, the Ouachita women's soccer team defeating the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm 3-2 on Thursday.
Southern Nazarene dominated the match early, as the Crimson Storm held the Tigers to two first-half shots. Fortunately for the Tigers, both first-half shots were goals by Hatcher. Hatcher's first goal came in the 23rd minute. She scored on a breakaway after receiving a long pass from Bryson Rial. The goal was a quick answer to Southern Nazarene's goal that came less than ten minutes earlier.
Hatcher's second goal came in the 32nd minute, when the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick. Despite eight shots by Southern Nazarene and two by Ouachita, the Tigers lead the Crimson Storm 2-1 at the half.
Early in the second half, Southern Nazarene's Mallary Pineda added her second goal of the match to bring the score to 2-2.
After 30 minutes of scoreless play, Hatcher completed the hat trick and gave Ouachita a 3-2 lead with just over one minute remaining. Hatcher's goal came after she beat two defenders in the box and put the ball in the back of the net from eight yards out.
Hatcher's third goal proved to be the match-winner, giving the Tigers their second Great American Conference win of the season.
Hatcher has recorded a GAC-leading 10 goals in 12 games this season. She finished the match with seven shots, five on goal.
Lauren Llanes recorded seven saves in 90 minutes for Ouachita, and the Tigers are now 2-1 with Llanes in goal.
The Tigers (3-8-1, 2-2 GAC) will host East Central University on Saturday, Oct. 11, for their final home game of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
