Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers opened Great American Conference play on Thursday but fell to 0-1 after committing 28 turnovers in the 84-54 loss to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns.
Arkansas Tech (6-0, 1-0) grabbed the first lead of the game and held onto that lead for all but 1:04 of the 40-minute contest.
A 13-0 run early in the first half put the Golden Suns ahead 20-7 with 13:03 remaining in the first half. ATU continued to build on its lead and eventually took a 40-18 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Tigers never pulled within 20 points. The Lady Tigers struggled shooting throughout both halves, finishing with a field goal percentage of 32.1 percent. Arkansas Tech outscored Ouachita in the paint, 47-20, and the Golden Suns recorded 36 points off Ouachita's season-high 28 turnovers.
Katrina Hayden finished with a game-high 19 points for Tech, and Fatima Adams followed with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
For Ouachita,
Breanna Harris led the team with 10 points, shooting 6-6 from the free-throw line.
Kori Bullard added nine points in the game and grabbed a team-high seven boards.
The Lady Tigers (3-4, 0-1) will travel to Magnolia, Ark. on Saturday, Dec. 6, for their second conference game of the season. The game against Southern Arkansas is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
