Lady Tigers Come Up Short Despite Halftime Lead

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Lady Tigers fell to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns 71-55 on Thursday, despite going into halftime on an 18-7 run to claim a two-point lead. The loss came less than a week after Coach Garry Crowder earned his 700th win as a head coach.

The first half featured four ties and six lead changes. Five straight points from Breanna Harris in the final 40 seconds of the half gave Ouachita the small lead going into the break. Hot shooting from Nashia James (2-4 3FG), Katherine West (2-3 3FG) and Erica Sharp (3-3 FG) propelled Ouachita ahead, as well.

The Golden Suns, who managed 54.5 percent field goal shooting in the first half, remained consistent in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the field. The Lady Tigers could not match Arkansas Tech shot for shot, only shooting 23.1 percent in the second half.

Rebounds also became a major difference, in which Tech out rebounded OBU 24-15 in the half. Not able to score second-chance points as easily, the Lady Tigers scored only 20 points in the half.

Harris finished with a team-high 14 points, followed by James with 12 and Sharp with 10.

The Lady Tigers (6-15, 4-11) will travel to Searcy, Ark. on Saturday, Feb. 15, to take on #6 Harding. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
