ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers came up just short of an upset win over the Harding Lady Bisons on Saturday, falling 72-65.
The Lady Tigers held Harding to only 37.9 percent field goal shooting and 17.6 percent from three-point range for the game. Ouachita did not give up a three-point basket at all in the second half, forcing the Lady Bisons to shoot 0-7.
Down two at halftime, the Lady Tigers never allowed the Lady Bisons to claim a lead larger than 10 in the second half and at one point, were behind by only one point. Harding's 16 second-half free-throws became the difference in the game, however, helping the Lady Bisons steal the win.
Harding's A'ndrea Haney led all scorers with 17 points, 11 coming from the line.
Erica Sharp led the Lady Tigers with 15 points, and she grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to earn a double-double. Nashia James and Katie Kapler each scored 10 points for Ouachita. As a team, the Lady Tigers shot 39.3 percent from the field and 40.7 percent in the second half.
The Lady Tigers (6-16, 4-12 GAC) play at home on Thursday, Feb. 20, as they take on Northwestern Oklahoma State. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
