Tigers Finish 2013-14 with First Winning Dual Record in Program History.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers went 1-2 this past weekend at the Maryville Duals in St. Louis, Missouri to run their overall dual record for the season to 10-9. It's the first time the Tigers have posted a regular season winning record in dual competition. Head coach Kevin Ward recognized the achievement this squad accomplished.

"It's an accomplishment that can't ever be taken away from these guys," Coach Ward said.  He added, "As the coach, I make the schedule very challenging, so for us to have a winning record just shows that the guys on the team responded to the challenge and they will always be the team that broke that barrier for our program.  I am very proud and happy for them that they were able to do that."

The winning record this season is one that was definitely earned as the Tigers faced tough competition each week.

"We wrestled 3 D1 teams, and 8 other teams ranked in the top-20," said Coach Ward, "so our schedule is as tough as it gets."

He added, "We could have watered down the schedule and had a winning record for the past 3 years, but I think the toughest competition in the country is what prepares our guys to wrestle their best at the end of the season.  And this team always has our best performances when it matters most!"

The Tigers will head to Edmond, Oklahoma next weekend to compete in the NCAA Super Regional 2 Tournament. Ouachita will be facing off against more of DII's finest. Coach Ward expressed his excitement heading into the event.

"We have the toughest Super Regional in the country and we are going to need great performances to carry us into the NCAA Tournament," said Coach Ward.  "As a coach, this is the time of year that you live for.  As a competitor, it doesn't get much better than this.  We will have tough matches, and the cream will rise to the top."

He added, "The guys who have put in all the work will separate themselves from the average.  Its an exciting time."
