Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Lady Tigers defeated the Southwestern Oklahoma State Lady Bulldogs 86-72 on Saturday, clinching a spot in the Great American Conference Tournament in March.
Ouachita added on to their recent hot shooting, as they were 46.2 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep in the game against SWOSU. Elise Holman started the scoring for the Lady Tigers 17 seconds into the game, and OBU did not allow the Lady Bulldogs to a have the lead once in the entire game.
The Lady Tigers led the Lady Bulldogs in every category, including rebounds (42-32), assists (21-13), turnovers (17-18), bench points (22-14), points in the paint (30-16) and second chance points (14-7).
Nashia James led the way for Ouachita, scoring 19 points. James also grabbed eight rebounds. Erica Sharp followed James with 16 points and eight boards, and Holman finished with 14 points, 10 boards and five assists.
With the win, the Lady Tigers (6-12 GAC) clinched the final spot in the GAC tournament. OBU is currently one game behind Southern Arkansas (7-11 GAC) and two games behind Henderson State (8-10). With two games left in the regular season the Lady Tigers have a chance to improve off their current eighth seed before the tournament.
The Lady Tigers will host Henderson State on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the second and final Battle of the Ravine of the season. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
