Tigers shut out Eagles, extend winning streak to five

Box Score COLLEGE CITY, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers volleyball team extended their winning streak to five games on Thursday night, defeating the Williams Baptist Eagles in straight sets, 25-18, 25-23 and 26-24.
 
The Tigers were able to steal the victory by limiting their mistakes, while forcing numerous errors by the Eagles. Ouachita finished the match with only 18 attack errors, compared to Williams Baptist's 32 attack errors.  
 
Tara Wait led the Tigers with a match total of 10.5 points. Wait recorded 20 assists, eight digs, six kills, two aces, two solo blocks and an assisted block. She also led the team with a .385 attack percentage.
 
Jayme Shell finished the match with a team-high eight kills. She also registered seven digs and an ace. Kori Bullard, a true freshman, followed Shell with seven kills and a .267 attack percentage. Bullard added two assisted blocks, as well.
 
Ashley Wake was the only Tiger to record double-digits in digs, as she finished with 10.
 
The Tigers started, registering an attack percentage of .091 in the first set. Ouachita steadily improved, however, and finished the match with a .121 attack percentage, compared to Williams Baptist's .095 percentage.
 
The Tigers (5-1, 1-0) will travel to Batesville, Ark. on Friday for a match against Lyon College at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Tigers will play in the first home match of the season, as they take on Arkansas Tech at 6:30 p.m. Live stat links will be posted on the Ouachita Tigers volleyball schedule.
