Hatcher leads Tigers to first win

Box Score CLAREMORE, Okla. – Ouachita's women's soccer team recorded its first victory of the regular season on Sunday, defeating the Rogers State Hillcats 6-3. Haley Hatcher netted two goals and added two assists.
 
Two quick goals for the Tigers, in the fifth and sixth minutes, gave Ouachita an early 2-0 lead. The first score came from Hatcher, who stole the ball off a goal kick and beat the goalkeeper on her way to her third goal of the season. 58 seconds later, Bryson Rial scored again for Ouachita, on a free kick that sailed in the top right corner of the goal.
 
The scoring continued in the 12th minute, this time coming from Rogers State's Blair Thomas, to bring the Hillcats within one.
 
Rogers State's score was answered just four minutes later, when Ouachita freshman Delaney Kooken scored her second goal of the season. The goal came on a pass from Hatcher, before Kooken beat the keeper one-on-one.
 
Freshman Kasey Smith increased Ouachita's lead to three in the 35th minute, on a goal once again assisted by Hatcher. After one more goal from Rogers State, the first half ended with the Tigers ahead 4-2.
 
Hatcher added to her incredible performance with the first goal of the second half, coming in the 62nd minute. Hatcher beat the keeper one-on-one after receiving a pass from Miranda Hudleston.
 
The Tigers claimed a 6-2 lead 15 minutes later, when Abby Emanuel netted her second goal of the season. Smith, who scored her first career goal in the first half, also recorded her first career assist on Emanuel's goal.
 
Late in the second half, Rogers State added one more goal before the match ended with the Tigers leading 6-3.
 
The Tigers recorded nine shots on goal, two coming from Hatcher, two coming from Rial and two more coming from Smith.
 
Emily Keith started at keeper for Ouachita, and recorded two saves in the first half. Katy Alexander replaced Keith in the second half, and recorded four saves.
 
The Tigers (1-3-1) will travel to Denton, Texas on Sept. 19, as they take on Texas Women's University. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
