Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – With the help of 51.7 percent shooting from the field, the Ouachita Tigers moved to 6-2 in Great American Conference play on Thursday night, defeating the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm 75-58.
Colt Fason led the Tigers with a game-high 21 points in only 25 minutes, while
Micah Delph score five points and recorded a season-high six assists.
The Tigers dominated from the opening tip, as they recorded the first seven points of the game and claimed a double-digit lead in only five minutes. Ouachita maintained its lead throughout the half while preventing any runs from the Crimson Storm.
Ouachita ended the first half on a 7-2 run, including a three-pointer from Fason with five seconds remaining, to go into the break leading 41-22.
The Tigers missed only 13 shots in the first half, while forcing SNU (8-7, 4-5 GAC) to miss 18. Ouachita also forced eight turnovers by the Crimson Storm, resulting in 12 extra points. Fason led at the half with 13 points, and
Tirrell Brown followed with eight points and a game-high six boards.
The Tigers coasted in the second half, never letting SNU pull within 17 points while claiming their largest lead of 25 six times.
Allen Buchanan led all scorers in the second half with nine points, and Fason added eight on 4-5 shooting from the field.
For the game, Fason converted on 10-16 shots from the floor as he tied his season-high in points. Buchanan finished with 11 points on 5-9 shooting, and
Justin McCleary scored 10. During the contest, 11 Tigers saw action with 10 of them scoring.
The Tigers (10-3, 6-2 GAC) are currently tied for first with Southern Arkansas in the GAC standings. Ouachita is the only team in the conference that is still undefeated at home. The Tigers will host Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Bill Vining Arena. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
